The Vimy Memorial

The battle of Vimy Ridge took place April 9-12, 1917 when all 4 divisions of the Canadian Corps (fighting together for the first time) captured this well fortified ridge and broke a critical link in the German defense.

There were 10,602 Canadian casualties including 3,598 who made the ultimate sacrifice.

This memorial stands as a testament to the 11,285 Canadians who died in France but have no grave.

350 veterans were in attendance for the unveiling of our creation

The sculpture was made from 200 blocks of ice.

The Human figures were carved by Aaron Costic & Junichi Nakamura.

The towers were carved by members of CICS (the Canadian Ice Carvers Society)
